About Me

Sue Muirhead

As I age I grow more grateful for my life and the countless blessings I am part of daily - my loving partner, precious children and their inimitable partners, miraculous grandchildren, wise parents and incredible siblings and extended family, many dear and precious friends, the astounding beauty of the earth and the vast array of non-human life, the succulent mysteries everywhere and the remarkable opportunities to grow, dream and cherish the range of each moment. This includes moments where I am moving through a swampland or dark night and my sorrows and struggles seem heavy. All of this depth of feeling ranging from incredible joy to deep sorrow provides opportunities for my soulful expression. [ read more ]

I express creatively for the joy and the full bodied aliveness I feel when I engage my creative spirit - it is a soulful experience for me. Over the last few years I have become more and more a process painter where I am no longer concerned about the outcome and I paint for the sheer pleasure of expressing. I continue to delight and be fascinated by this experience. I started painting in this way after reading the book, 'Painting from the Source' by Aviva Gold and then taking courses under the guidance of Michelle Cassou who is the author of the book, "Painting From Point Zero". She stresses the depth and beauty of the intuitive force and encourages all to go with their uniqueness and express this distinctiveness on paper. I have also taken courses from Stuart Cubley who co-authored the book, 'Life, Paint and Passion" with Michelle Cassou. This way of painting really fits for me and is something I love to do.

I work as a counsellor and group facilitator and incorporate my love for connection, my love for the creative in all that I do. I turned 57 years old this year - If I am blessed to live into elderhood I want to continue to grow and expand in my life and my service to others, engaging and sharing my passions. I want to stay AWAKE!!!!!

I am a lover of the earth and feel most alive when I am walking with the wind in my hair, the trees swishing and swirling colorfully around me, the sweet sound of water lapping close by, the crunching ground underfoot, and sounds of creatures beckoning all around. Put me outside on a cool day with the sun shining and I am blissful.

Jelaluddin Rumi shares:

The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.
Don't go back to sleep.
You must ask for what you really want.
Don't go back to sleep.
People are going back and forth across the doorsill
Where the two worlds touch.
The door is round and open.
Don't go back to sleep.
